Scholarships must be submitted by June 24, 2026. Funds are limited.
The Strong Start Scholarship helps working families in Clear Creek County cover a portion of their child care costs for up to one year. If you live or work in the county, you may qualify. See 'Frequently Asked Questions' for more information.

What is the Strong Start Scholarship?
A need-based scholarship that helps working families in Clear Creek County pay for childcare. *Please note awards will vary depending on amount of funding received each year and number of applicants. Below is an estimate of the monthly stipends:
-Under 5 Full-time: $300-$350
-Under 5 Part-time: $200-$225
-School-Aged: $60-$90 per month
Who can apply?
You may apply if you live or work in Clear Creek County. Priority goes to families who both live and work here.
Do I have to be working full-time?
No. Part-time work qualifies as well as currently-not-working. We understand that childcare is a key factor in getting parents into the workforce. The part time award is around $220/per month.
What kind of child care is allowed?
The provider must be a licensed centers or licensed home-based care,
My child is in there year before Kindergarten and qualifies for the State's Universal Pre-K program, should I still apply?
The monthly stipend does not allowed in addition to UPK. However, you should still apply in order to receive the stipend for the summer months.
How long does the scholarship last?
Support runs from August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027.
How do I apply?
Apply online at the link above starting June 1st. Paper copies are available at Idaho Springs and Georgetown libraries.

How are scholarships reviewed?
Scholarship applications will be reviewed once the June 24th application window is closed. The six member committee is chaired by EECL President Pam Marsh and includes local government officials, district school board members, and Schools Foundations representative.
